Successful completion of our third consecutive workshop at PAG-33

Carmel, Indiana— Jan 12, 2025. Today at #PAG33 (Plant & Animal Genome Conference), I (Rajesh Perianayagam Ph.D.) had the privilege of chairing our 3rd consecutive workshop: “Accelerating Innovations by Leveraging the Startup Ecosystem in Agriculture.”
A strong message echoed throughout the session: while genomics capabilities are moving fast, the real differentiator is translation—turning genomic data into practical decisions and scalable solutions for agriculture.
As the founder of Karyosoft Inc., I’m especially motivated by tools and platforms that reduce friction in secondary and tertiary NGS analysis and enable reproducible, collaborative workflows across research teams.
🙏 Sincere thanks to our distinguished speakers for sharing their innovative work and perspectives:
Ryan Mitchell (InnerPlant ) — enabling real-time detection of fungal infections through crop-based sensing
Bryan Witherbee (Agragene Inc ) — reinventing pest control with precision-guided sterile insect technology (pgSIT)
Gaganpreet Sidhu (Meiogenix) — unlocking natural genetic diversity through targeted recombination to accelerate crop improvement
Mihir Kekre (Tropic)— translating genome-edited crop innovations into real-world products
Dan Kurdys (Pairwise ) — accelerating commercialization through partnerships, gene editing, and AI-enabled innovation
Thank you as well to the PAG community and all attendees for the thoughtful questions and discussion. Innovation moves faster when we build together—startups + academia + industry—and I’m excited about the collaborations sparked by this workshop.
🙏 Sincere thanks to Darrin Scherago, CEO of PAG, for his continued support of our workshop on agri-startups at PAG33.
Here’s to continued innovation and success for everyone!
